Remember Rakshitha, who was part of Tamil movies like Vijay starrer 'Madurey' and STR starrer 'Dum'. The Sandalwood actress bid adieu to cinema after she entered wedlock with popular Kannada director Prem.

She is now back in the limelight, but not in cinema. Recently, Rakshitha announced her decision to join the BSR Congress, a newly floated party in Karnataka. "Because I like the policies and principles of the party," she says.

The actress adds: "I met the party founder Sriramulu recently and expressed my wish to enroll myself in the political outfit. He wants to work for the upliftment of people in the grassroots. He really wants to bring about a change."

Stating that the party's focus will initially be on northern Karnataka, Rakshitha says, "There are many areas in North Karnataka which lack basic infrastructure. We will concentrate on developing them."

It may be noted that Simbu's other heroine, 'Kuthu' Ramya, too recently enrolled herself in the Karnataka Congress.
