The audio launch function of 'Velayudham' in Madurai on August 28 will be a show of strength by Vijay, where his fans from all over the State would converge, say informed sources.

"Madurai has been an important place for various political conferences and meetings, right from the days of MG Ramachandran, a matinee idol turned Chief Minister," sources recall.

"This is one of the reasons behind the Ilayathalapathy zeroing in on the temple town for the audio launch of Velayudham. Office bearers of his Makkal Iyakkam are working overtime to make the function a grand success," they say.

Vijay made an indirect entry into politics in the recently concluded Assembly elections, by offering his support to the AIADMK. His father SA Chandrasekaran and fans worked tirelessly for the victory of the then opposition party, which is the ruling party now.
