When the National awards fir the films of 2015 were announced a few months ago a big section of Tamil movie buffs as well as the film fraternity were disappointed and rather shocked to know that Chiyaan' Vikram's unbelievably stunning performance in director Shankar's mega budget romantic action entertainer 'I' did not get any award.

But now with the South Indian Filmfare awards which is considered as a important recognition given to feature films the shock, disappointment and despair could have subsided at least to an extent. 'I' has swept the awards for Tamil films with a whopping four awards including the much deserved Best Actor Award going to Vikram for his spell binding performance.

A.R.Rahman won the award for Best Music Director for his musical score for 'I' and this is his 30th Filmfare award in a career spanning getting close to 25 years. Sid Sriram won the award for the Best Male Singer for his brilliant rendition of the pathos melody 'Ennodu Nee Irundhaal' and Madhan Karky won the award for Best Lyrics for the chart-buster 'Pookkaley Satru Oivedungal' song.

The film's lead actor Jayam Ravi won the Critics Award for the Best Actor, taking the tally of 'Thani Oruvan' to an impressive three.

Jyothika who made a comeback last year with '36 Vayathiniley' produced by her husband Suriya won the Critics Jury Award for Best Actress.

The unanimously acclaimed blockbuster 'Kaaka Muttai' added another star to its awards tally by winning the Best Film in Tamil. The same award for Telugu language went to South India's biggest ever blockbuster 'Baahubali'.
