He’s done something that’s never done before in Indian cinema. Together with ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam, South star Vikram has crossed several barriers in the making of ‘Raavanan’, the most anticipated movie of the year.

Launching Vikram in Bollywood had been a huge task for the director and the actor as well. Being a hardcore southie, Vikram obviously found it very difficult yet challenging.

Initially Mani had approached Vikram for Veera's role in Tamil (Beera in Hindi). Then gradually he presented the Hindi character Dev to the actor, who was quite taken back. A zero in Hindi, Vikram felt the idea was crazy and that he would kill the film in the process.

But the director had requested him to consider the offer and encouraged him saying that doing two completely different roles will be challenging for both of them.

Moved by Mani’s confidence Vikram took up the film with determination that when Aishwarya Rai can do Tamil version why he can’t do it in Hindi. “Later, while doing it, and now, going by the response we are getting I think it was a wise decision,” shared Vikram to a source. Once on the Hindi project, it was a daunting task for him to learn Hindi. His Hindi instructor, Karan Kashyap, had proved to be as strict as Mani himself. But now looking at the end product, Vikram feels completely pleased and at peace.

Well, now just a day more for the ‘Raavanan’ to unfold on screens, we hope the audience verdicts bring even more peace to the star.
