There were reports that Vimala Raman, the 'Raman Thediya Seethai' and 'Poi' actress, will be seen playing a crucial role in Vikram-starrer 'Karikalan'. However, she has denied the claim, saying "No, I am not part of the project".

The actress, who is a model and a Bharatnatyam dancer too, is now eagerly looking forward for the release of her international project 'Dam 999', which will be released simultaneously in five languages this weekend. "I have played a crucial role in it," she says.

In the meantime, the 'Karikalan' unit is busy shooting the period movie with the help of mammoth sets and state-of-the-art technology. "We have recreated a couple of towns of Karikalan era to shoot some of the crucial scenes," informs the director, Kannan.

There are already few heroines (Zareen Khan, Mithra Kurein and Radhika) in the film and Anjali has recently been roped in for a crucial role. She will be playing a warrior, who is also the leader of a particular set of people.
