'VIP-2' beats 'DJ' in Kerala

The Malayalam versions of Dhanush's 'VIP-2' and Allu Arjun's 'DJ' got released in Kerala on the same day. However, while the former is at #3, the latter is at #4 in terms of BO collections. Both the movies got released in a good number of theatres, at above 100 screens.

The first weekend's gross of 'DJ' (released as 'Dhruvaraj Jagannadh') is Rs. 1.5 Cr. That of 'VIP-2' is slightly more.

While 'VIP-2' was well promoted, Allu Arjun couldn't promote his movie as he is busy with 'Na Peru Surya'. Also, while Dhanush's movie benefited from being a simultaneous release, 'DJ' was indefinitely delayed due to some circumstances.
