Exactly a week after its release, Dhanush's 'Vellaiyilla Pattathari' was put under the lens and it has come out to be officially declared as the first Tamil blockbuster of 2014, at a whopping turnover of more than 19-crore rupees in its first seven days. VIP captures the emotion of a talented yet unemployed youth and has hence appealed to the youth first hand.

The film is special in more ways than just this - it is Dhanush's 25th film. The film was produced by Wunderbar Films at a budget of about 5 crores. Directed by Velraj who is debutante to direction, 'Vellaiyilla Pattathari' has Dhanush, Amala Paul, Vivekh, Surabhi, Saranya Ponvannan and Samuthirakani in prime roles and was sold to Escape Artistes Motion Picture before its theatrical release.
