The much expected election for the South Indian Film Artistes Association (Nadigar Sangam) is expected to be held soon. The Madras High Court has handed over the charge of overseeing the fair and free conduct of election to Justice Padmanabhan who is expected to finalise the election date soon.

The upcoming election is going to be one of the fiercely competed elections in the history of the Sangam as the rebel group of actors Vishal, Karthi, Nasser, Ponvannan and Karunas have raised in arms against the present office bearers and have been going on a campaigning spree to garner votes for their candidate. On the other hand the incumbent President R.Sarathkumar and General Secretary Radharavai and their supporters are no less competitive and they have reportedly decided to field young actors for various posts in the Sangam.

Vishal who met the Press yesterday said that the Judge will announce the election date and venue (acceptable to both the parties) soon and as of now it appears that the election can be conducted only in October as at least a month`s time is required for completing the pre-election works.
