Two years back a film called 'Bloody Paki' was announced amidst much fanfare. A Mani Ratnam film, while Vivek Oberoi was confirmed for it, there was uncertainty around the leading lady with the toss up between Chitrangda Singh and Genelia D'Souza. Since the film didn't go to the floors then, the controversy too died it's natural death. However now that there are talks of Mani Ratnam reviving 'Bloody Paki', the box of choices is wide open all over again.

Informs a trade source, "Around the film's announcement in early 2010, Chitrangda was the chosen one as the leading lady. However this was also the time when she wasn't doing too well in Bollywood and her comeback affair 'Sorry Bhai' had proven to be a box office dud. Other than this fact, Vivek Oberoi too was said to be having apprehensions about Chitrangda's mature look and persona."

This is when Genelia D'Souza's name started floating around. Though the film isn't romantic by any means and is instead an action thriller set against the backdrop of London terrorist attack in 2005, the makers perhaps felt that Genelia's young looks would help 'Bloody Paki' become much more commercially viable.

However the film didn't progress beyond announcement as Vivek Oberoi got busy with 'Rakht Charitra' and it's sequel. Moreover, many in the trade felt that the film would be better off if it's shooting started after a while since Vivek had just done 'Kurbaan' (Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor) which had a similar backdrop. Now that that dust has settled, there are talks about 'Bloody Paki' getting back on track all over again.

"The casting musical chair too has become quite interesting now because Chitrangda is back in the good books of many a top film makers, what with a film each with Akshay Kumar (Desi Boyz), John Abraham and Arjun Rampal. Moreover a commercial success like 'Yeh Saali Zindagi' has only added up to her stocks", adds a source, "Unfortunately for Genelia, though she has a 'Force' coming up, she also has two stuck films to her name - 'Hook Ya Crook' (with John Abraham) and 'It's My Life' (with Harman Baweja). Naturally, the makers have their task cut out",

When questioned around 'Bloody Paki', Chitrangda refused to divulge any details. All that she commented was, "It was sheer bad luck that it didn't take off when it had to. I am now told that it may be revived. Let's see how it goes from here."

We too would be curious about that Chitrangda.
