Speculations were going around that Silambarasan's car was stolen away by his driver when he and his brother were partying in a star hotel at night. The driver drove off to Puducherry and on his way back after a joy ride, had a head-on collision with a two-wheeler and killed one on the spot. There were many versions of confusing reports which were abuzz, for which Vijaya T.Rajendar and Silambarasan gave elucidation at the press meet.

Silambarasan made it a point that he was not at all in India when the incident happened and was in Sri Lanka for the shoot of 'Silambattam' and he denied all the false reports strongly made by a section of the press which were saying that 'he was drunken', 'he was partying' and a few more in the amiable vein.

He added that, this is not the first but quite a number of times he has been needlessly targeted by a section of the Press which often does its malicious campaign against him. He alleged that a conspiracy has been hatched to tarnish his name among the masses.

Meanwhile, Vijaya T Rajendher said, 'Silambarasan is a teetotaler and I can prove it in the court. I will also furnish the proofs affirming that my son had been in Sri Lanka when the incident occurred'. He also said that he would even file a defamation suit against some respected members of the fourth estate for their derogatory remarks and false reports on him and his family thereby bringing down their fame and reputation.
