Back Bench Student, starring Mahath Raghavendra, Pia Bajpai and Archana Kavi and directed by Madhura Sreedhar is set to release today. Pia Bajpai shares her experiences about the movie, her journey with the team and her upcoming film, in an exclusive interview to Indiaglitz.

This is the first time you are acting in Telugu. How did the director pick you for this character?

I think he has seen Rangam and liked my performance. So he has picked me for this movie.

What about your role in BBS ?

I play the character of Chaithra in this movie. She is very possessive, passionate, insecure but confident. She is a very clean hearted person. She is a self made woman. She starts behaving rude, once anyone comes into her life and takes the things away from her. It is a lovely character and I have never done such character before.

Were you a back bench student as of the title?

Yes. Upto 7th or 8th standard, I used to be a front bencher. Then after, I became a back bencher. In college I used to bunk classes a lot.

What do you like the most about the movie?

First of all I like the title very much. It is very catchy and it tells a lot about the movie. I came to know about Madhura Sreedhar with my friends in Hyderabad that, he is a very sensible director. Though I have not seen his previous movies, I have seen some scenes and his taking is very good. My friends said that he is a king of publicity and it is very true. I have never got such publicity I am getting for this movie.

What about Mahath's character in the movie and your experience working with him?

Mahath is playing a typical back bencher and people will love his character. He is very energetic and has been like a kid on sets. He is a good friend of mine and it is great working with him.

What about the music in the film?

Sunil Kashyap has done a very good job. I love the 'thelisi thelisi' song in the movie very much. We have shot that song in Araku and for the first time I have worn saree for that song.

What are the highlights of the movie?

First of all it is a very simple movie and we tried to convey the story very modestly. The other highlights are the colours, freshness, good songs and very youthful cast.

Apart from knowing from your friends, you don't know anything about the director. What is your experience after working with him?

He is a very intelligent man and I have never seen him getting angry on anyone. He is very cool and he knows how to extract work from the actors. Unlike some directors who call the cast as my hero and my heroine, he calls us as ‘my stars’. It is very pleasant thing to hear for an actor. I am lucky to act in his direction.

Why should people come and watch this movie?

Because, it is a very pleasant and very entertaining film. There is no bloodshed and there is a very cute love story in it. The movie is for back benchers and they can relate them watching this movie. The song are picturized very good and they love them. The movie surely entertains the audience.

There is a buzz that you and Mahath are dating. What is your comment?

I don't want to comment on it. He is the hero of the film and a very good friend of mine. It doesn't mean we are dating together. I am single and right now, I am focusing only on my work. I have no intention to get into any relation for some time. I don't know from where these rumors come.

How many lip-locks do you have in this movie?

There are lip locks or smooching scenes in this movie. There is only one scene and it is not a lip-lock.

What about your upcoming films?

My upcoming film, Dhalam is coming soon. I hope it is in April 1st week. It is a very beautiful love story and I am playing a Telugu Brahmin girl in that movie. For the first time I am wearing half saree. I am very happy with it. BBS and Dhalam are two very different movies and people are going to watch different Piaa in different movies.

What is the difference you observed in Tamil and Telugu industries?

Frankly speaking, there is no difference. Regarding profession both are same and the difference will be only in the unit you work.

What language do you prefer?

I don't prefer any language and prefer only good stories.
