Munnabhai’s Gandhigiri is a much bigger hit than Aamir Khan’s RDBgiri in terms of influencing the social strata of the country. But even though the whole country is going gaga over Sanju baba’s exploits on screen, his demanour is changing with each passing day as the judgment day on this accused no. 117 is getting near in his alleged involvement in the Bombay Bomb Blast case in 1993.

Sanjay Dutt was the flavour of the season during this year’s Gandhi Jayanti on October 2nd as he gave television interviews on all and sundry channels. He also edited that day’s edition of a popular Mumbai Tabloid. In spite of a glorious run that he is enjoying due to his screen image, the tension is palpable on the face of Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt’s son. He has been frequenting all the possible temples, dargahs, churches and gurudwara’s to pray for himself. But somehow even he knows that the judgment may not go in his favour.

Munnabhai’s fate will be announced in the second week of November and it would be a time for the media to go in frenzy. If he walks out a free man, it would be encore from Bollywood and the whole world. But if he is convicted, it may be curtains for Sanjay Dutt as a leading man on celluloid. The minimum jail sentence that could be announced is five years and more. His father veteran politician and actor Sunil Dutt was always there by his side. Be his drug problem after mother Nargis Dutt’s death or tryst with law after the 1993 Bomb blast, Dutt Sahab was always there by his son’s side. Today, sister Priya Dutt is a Member of Parliament. Can she do anything for her brother? Remains to be seen… After all law is above all relationships…
