As was predicted last week, 'Jannat 2' opened well at the box office with first day collections ranging between 50%-70% with multiplexes on the lower side and single screens doing much better. This was pretty much on expected lines though and hence when the first day collections of Rs. 9 crores came out, there were no major surprises in store. What impressed though was the fact that now the film had one of the best opening days ever and that too for an actor who is relatively new in the industry. While earlier this year it was experienced actors like Hrithik Roshan (Agneepath), Akshay Kumar (Housefull 2) and Saif Ali Khan (Agent Vinod) who took the honour for the best opening days, Emraan enticing similar response from the audience has further consolidated his position in the industry as a bankable superstar.

While Emraan did his job as a star-actor and ensured a huge opening, the film as a whole didn't quite see a whole hearted response from the audience. With several loopholes in the script, the final result wasn't as entertaining due to which it didn't quite end up wowing the audience. Thankfully, very good performances by Emraan and Randeep Hooda saved the day which means despite it's weaknesses, the film still sustained well at the box office to fetch 24 crore weekend.

The film is now already an above average grosser for Emraan and it would be interesting to see how the weekdays progress. Since there is competition ahead with 'Dangerous Ishhq' and 'Ishaqzaade' expected to eat away a good number of screens, 'Jannat 2' has to earn maximum in its first week. The film should touch the 40 crore mark though it would be tough for it to surpass 'Murder 2' collections of 50 crores.

The other release of the week, 'Fatso', just didn't find an audience. As mentioned last week, the film was released without any promotion whatsoever. Moreover, the release was quite miniscule as well and show timings even more odd. Though it wasn't trashed in reviews and found decent to above average response from the critics, the film missed out on even reaching out to the audience, leave aside being liked or disliked by them. There were hardly any collections to show either which means even a complete run of one full week would be a struggle for it.
