First things first - Though some in the trade are comparing 'Singham' with 'Dabangg', both in terms of content as well as expected box office reception, let the fact be stated that it is really unfair on both counts. 'Singham' is an altogether different film in totality and doesn't quite have 'Dabangg' elements to it. So let's not get into that comparison mode.

Now coming to other side of the story. All said and done, 'Singham' will take at the least a good opening at the box office. In the times when films like 'Delhi Belly', 'Double Dhamaal', 'Murder 2' as well as 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' have hovered around the 25 crores mark when it comes to weekend collections, nothing less than 30 crores is expected from this Ajay Devgn starrer. Of course lack of not even a single popular, leave aside a chartbuster track, would be hampering footfalls to some extent at the least. Still, the masala feel of the film would ensure that 'Singham' has a bountiful first weekend.

What would also help 'Singham' is the fact that first and foremost it arrives sans any competition whatsoever. It is the solo release of the week and would be looking at making a bigger impression at single screen theaters and small towns than multiplexes. In these regions, 'Murder 2' has exhausted its run which means 'Singham' can roar the loudest. Moreover with as many as three straight open weeks right in front of it, the film has all the space in the world to make 'moolah'.

Until and unless the film is a real downer (which isn't expected to be the case since it is a remake of a hit film and also brings Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty together again), there is no reason why 'Singham' shouldn't turn out to be a clean hit.
