After oblique references made by a veteran director, renowned novelist Yandamuri Veerendranath has talked about the plastic surgery that Ram Charan allegedly had. "A plastic surgery was performed on Ram Charan at his mother's behest when he was to be launched," Yandamuri said as a passing reference in a speech to college students.

He next narrated an anecdote about one Saraswathi Prasad. "When 'Abbanee tiyanee debba..' was being composed by Maestro Illaiyaraja, one lad by name Saraswathi Prasad stood up in a hurry and asked , 'Is this not Shiva Ranjani ragam?' To which the Maestro said, patting the lad's back, 'You will make it big some day'. The lad grew up to be Devi Sri Prasad," Yandamuri said to the students' claps.

Addressing the students, he went on to say that nobody clapped when Charan's name was invoked, but mention of DSP's name made many clap. "You are not about who your father is," he said.
