Yevadu

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Telugu Comments

Release of 'Thoofan' was observed by one and all including the producers, trade pundits, distributors and exhibitors closely to assess the situation of films faring at the box office. With at least four big films to be released in the coming 3-4 weeks and about Rs. 200 Crores is the aggregate trade of all the four together, Tollywood was all eyes onto the one who tried to break the ice first though forced, 'Thoofan'. And one can say, the news is not good. Across the state including Telangana, Andhra and Rayala Seema, the agitation against the release of the film was unanimous and the slogan was unambiguous 'Make your stand clear and then move' It's impossible for any producer to pick between one of the two areas viz., Telangana (Nizam) or Seemandhra (Andhra & Ceded in Film language) coz, both divide the normal big film revenues into exactly half.

The situation is far more frightening for the producers of films starring Mega Family heroes as the stance taken by Mega Star Chiranjeevi is not appreciated by neither of the two movements. The 'Thoofan' result was writing on the wall and will cost dearly to Dil Raju, the producer of Charan's yet another unreleased film 'Yevadu' which is a classic case of disastrous scheduling. First the producer was scared to release it against Pawan Kalyan's 'Attarintiki Daredi' and then the Telangana decision, followed by Samaikyandhra movement has entirely doomed his preparations of release anytime in the near future. It will be now interesting to see his strategy in making the movie public. As of now, his plan is for Dasara release.

For the project details, the movie has Charan, Sruthi Hassan and Amy Jackson in the leads, special appearances by Allu Arjun and Kajal. Directed by Vamsi Paidipally who has delivered a hit with `Brindavanam' earlier for Dil Raju. Music by Devi Sri Prasad couldn't invoke much interest when launched and by now audience might have even forgotten what songs the album has. Cast has seasoned names like Jayasudha, Sai Kumar, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Vennela Kishore etc and crew is robust with Ram Prasad, Marthand Venkatesh, Anand Sai, Selvam etc.

With none of the names give any inspiration required to keep the spirits on a high and prepare for the release, Dil Raju, along with his buyers would be joining Crores of Telugu speaking public who are praying Gods for heaving the state away from the turmoil. Wonder if God knows the solution...
