This low-pressure area is likely to strengthen into a depression by Thursday and further into a Cyclonic Storm by Friday. The storm will continue to move west-northwestward to northwestward over the Bay of Bengal, towards the eastern coast of India. Favourable sea-surface temperatures and atmospheric conditions aid the formation and intensification of cyclones over the North Indian Ocean during this time of the year. If the system indeed intensifies into a cyclone, it will be the fifth cyclone of 2021 and will be named Jawad. The name is as per the suggestion from Saudi Arabia and means generous or merciful in Arabic. Like its namesake, the system may not turn as devastating as its predecessors, in terms of wind speed.
