Actor Vikram received the National Award for best actor for his performance in Pithamagan from the hands of President A P J Abdul Kalam last night.

Obviously Vikram couldn't hide his glee.

An emotional Vikram said, "it is a great day in my life receiving the honor and recognition which every actor would aspire for in his life".

But even at the moment of his supreme happiness, Vikram didn't lose his perspective. He said: "All credit for the success should go to director Bala".

Meanwhile the mood in Kollywood is upbeat with actors and actresses pouring encomiums on Vikram for his work.

Actor Vijay said, "it's a reward for his dedication and hard work. I am a great fan of his. I admired him ever since his Meera and knew well that he would make it big one day".

Dharani, who had directed Vikram in Dhil and Dhool, said, "an honor being bestowed on the right man in recognition of his labor. A jovial human being, Vikram does any role with ease and elan. What he missed in Sethu, he has got today'.

According to Sneha, who acted with him in King, "the day is not just a happy one in the life of Vikram. But it is for the entire Tamil film fraternity. It is an honor bestowed on a man who loves cinema to the core".
