It was a trip down the memory lane for actor Prabhu when an honorary doctorate was conferred on him in recognition of his contribution to the field of cinema, by Sathyabama University on Thursday near Chennai.

Recalling the relationship shared by his father ‘Nadigar Thilakam’ Sivaji Ganesan and ‘Makkal Thilakam’ M G Ramachandran, Prabhu said they were good friends and enjoyed a healthy and strong friendship.

The ‘Ilaya Thilakam’ also recalled the days of his association with music composer-filmmaker Gangai Amaran (who too was conferred with a doctorate on the occasion) when he started his film career.

“The doctorate is a great honour for me,” the actor said. S Sundaresh, Distinguished Scientist, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and Sathyabama University founder-chancellor Jeppiar also spoke.
