Aamir Khan`s PK has broken all previous box office records and is marching ahead valiantly at the box office towards the elusive Rs 400 Crore mark after crossing the inimitable Rs 300 Crore mark!
While the actor is making merry at the astounding success, his detractors are going green with envy. A picture of this resentment is visible among Aamir Khan`s rivals with rumors floating round that Aamir Khan had bullied film director Rajkumar Hirani for the PK role after he came to know about the wonderful script.
According to grapevine Rajkumar Hirani had initially approached Ranbir Kapoor for the title role and the two had even started work. But when Aamir Khan learnt about the novel subject he could not resist himself from being a part of the film. Hence he used all the tricks of the trade including cajoling the film producer Vidu Vinod Chopra and convinced Hirani that the story demanded a mature actor, like him to portray the protagonist and cunningly grabbed the excellent movie from Ranbir Kapoor`s clutches.
However sources close to Aamir Khan have ridiculed these rumors. A reliable source close to Aamir Khan defending Aamir Khan has said that earlier Rajkumar Hirani in one of his interviews to a leading national daily had already denied such rumors. He had candidly confessed, "People have a fallacy that Ranbir Kapoor was the first choice for PK and Aamir Khan was approached after Ranbir declined the role due to date problems."
He had cleared the issue openly in the interview saying, "Actually the truth is that for 3 IDIOTS, Aamir Khan was not the original choice because he didn`t suited in the grab of a college students but when I failed to find actors who could do justice to the film, Aamir called me and assured that he will mould himself into the college student and he did. As regards PK, while shooting for 3 IDIOTS, I had discussed the subject with him and he immediately gave his consent." Thus the rumors that Aamir Khan bullied Rajkumar Hirani for PK role fall flat and points fingers at Aamir Khan`s detractors who are envious of his success and maligning his image!
