Unlike his earlier quick money earners like 'Tees Maar Khan' and 'Action Replayy', Akshay Kumar's 'Patiala House' is being released with a different promotional strategy. Designed as the kind that grows with word of mouth rather than the first weekend doing all the talking, 'Patiala House' has seen controlled promotion for itself. This also means that one can't expect an opening in the range of 80%-90% here. Instead, it is expected to start on a decent note and only grow further as the weekend progresses.

The film can afford to do that as well since there is no competition during the week. Also from the previous week, only 'Yeh Saali Zindagi' would survive in it's second week and hence won't cause much trouble to this Nikhil Advani directed film. The filmmaker here would certainly be anxious though w.r.t. the fate of 'Patiala House', especially after 'Chandni Chowk To China' and 'Salaam-E-Ishq'.

Those who had had a dekko at the film claim it to be a heart warming affair with exhilaration setting in as well due to strong emotional flavour to it coupled with cricket background. Also, since it releases when World Cup cricket is kick starting, there would be further mileage which is expected to set in. The film has been sold at decent prices with key stakeholders in partnership mode, hence guaranteeing a good chance of turning into a win-win situation for all.

Meanwhile last week's spill over release 'Angel' would be arriving now. However there isn't any expectation of a different outcome because even this week didn't see any impetus in promotion. Also, there is a small time film called 'Aashiqui.in' seeing a release this week. It is highly unlikely though whether any of these two films would manage even an all-India release for them.
