As the mercury rises in Mumbai, Abhi baby is getting hotter day by day and we have a dumdar ( read strong) evidence for this. Abhishek Bachchan’s popularity has swollen in the tinsel town thanks to his forthcoming Dum Maaro Dum trailer that has found appreciation from an unexpected quarter.

The trailer has a final punch line, where Abhishek Bachchan says “Mein sirf duty pe peeta hoon, apne municipality bhaiyon se seekho, hamesha do-teen laga ke hi gutter mein guste hain”

This punch line has caught the attention of the municipality workers of Rohan Sippy’s area. They have gotten in touch with Rohan Sippy, and have thanked him, as they feel that finally somebody has understood their plight and has highlighted it on the big screen, on such a big platform.

They feel, the municipality workers have never been portrayed in a good light on screen, they are either showed as sewage cleaners, or drunkards, but for the first a film salutes their hard work and their grit, especially with one of the central characters mouthing the lines, it gives them that much more weightage.

Says Rohan Sippy, director of Dum Maaro Dum “When we thought of the lines that Abhishek says, it was meant to be a metaphor, in the context of this gritty cop, who gets down in the muck to clean it up. I’ve always been so impressed with our municipality workers. When we pass a place with a stench, we just turn up our noses, imagine those who actually enter our muck and have to clean it. I never expected them to come up and thank me though.”

Dum Maaro Dum, is a gritty film, about Sex, drugs and Goa. It releases on the 22nd of April.
