Karan Johar is sticking to the basics. For 'Agneepath' remake with Hrithik Roshan, he as well his director Karan Malhotra were sure that by no means would they even attempt recreating the kind of magic that Mukul S Anand and Amitabh Bachchan had managed 20 years ago. The idea was to just take the basic core of 'Agneepath' and then narrate it an altogether different manner because as per the filmmaker, it was 'virtually impossible' to emulate something as powerful as Vijay Deenanth Chauhan.

"Did we have a choice? How dare can anyone emulate Amitabh Bachchan? Nobody should do that and it is to Karan Malhotra's intelligence and Hrithik's conviction that they understood it really well too and approached the film and the characters in their own way," says Karan whose dad Yash Johar had produced the Amitabh Bachchan starrer two decades back, "What we have done in our version is to pay homage to the yesteryear 'Agneepath' with a great amount of reverence for the genius of Mukul S Anand and Amitabh Bachchan."

Also starring Rishi Kapoor in a pivotal role, 'Agneepath' releases all over on 26th January.
