Sonam Kapoor seems to be following the steps of our Perfectionist Aamir Khan... Like how the superstar supported Madhya Pradesh’s Chanderi weavers during the making of ‘3 Idiots’, Ms Kapoor is now keen to help the local weavers in the heart of Banaras.

According to sources, Sonam, who was shooting in Banaras for Aanand L Rai’s ‘Raanjhnaa’, was quite impressed with the handloom works and the people behind it. Being a fashionista, Sonam visited several local weavers in the old city of Banaras and bought some sarees for her family and friends.

Sources added that Sonam was deeply moved by the poor condition of the weavers and is now determined to help them. After a 45-day shooting schedule, the tall beauty is back home and is heard that she is requesting her designer friends to use fabric made by these Banarasi weavers.

Not only that... Sonam has even plans to return Banaras and get in touch with some popular weavers there so as to find ways to improve the community’s livelihood.
