One look at her, and she might be passed off as cousin of Deepika Padukone... She’s one of the South’s on screen darling beauties, Amala Paul who is all set to make her Bollywood debut..

For quite some time now we have been hearing stories of AR Murugadoss’s Tamil hit ‘Ramana’ being remade in Hindi. Titled ‘Gabbar’, the film will be directed by Krish and star Khiladi superstar Akshay Kumar in lead.

While the original story had two heroines - Simran and Ashima - sources revealed that the makers have worked around a bit on the story to modify it a bit, making it only one prime heroine. Earlier, many actresses’ names including Shruthi Haasan and Ileana D’Cruz were considered for the female lead.

But looks like Amala Paul is the front runner now, as she seems interested in the story. If all goes well, the actress might sign the dotted line soon. Although both Amala and Krish were in Mumbai, neither was available for a comment on the feed. Talks are also that Sonu Sood and Prakash Raj have been roped in for prominent roles.

For the records, ‘Ramana’, released in 2002, is how a college professor along with his students fight corruption. The superhit Tamil film was also remade later in Telugu as Tagore.
