Superstar Rajinikanth has reportedly given an explanation to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi on some television channels showing him voting for the AIADMK during the polling for Assembly elections on Wednesday.

When the top actor came to the Stella Maris College polling booth, lensmen literally chased him and even captured the visuals of Rajini doing his democratic duty. And some television channels aired the footage too, saying he voted for the ‘two leaves’, the symbol of the AIADMK.

This resulted in the Election Commission issuing a stern warning to the channels, saying “it is a poll violation and telecasting such a visual is a crime. Both the videographer and broadcaster will be punished”. Following this, the visuals were taken off from the air.

Meanwhile, Rajini, who met Karunanidhi during a special show of ‘Ponnar Sankar’, told the Chief Minister that the cameramen had insisted him to go for a ‘retake’ while pressing the EVM button and accidentally his hands pressed the two leaves symbol.

The DMK leadership seems to have accepted the explanation, with Karunanidhi exchanging pleasantries with the Superstar during the ‘Ponnar Sankar’ show.
