The veteran actress, former chairperson of Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, sitting MLC of BJP Thara Anuradha feels extremely unhappy with the situation of theatre set up for Kannada films.

Kannada films are not allowed to stay in the theatres because of policies. They are vacated very quickly and in Malls it is giving rare opportunity. The single screens at the same time are charging heavy rents that is not able to cope up for the studious and intelligent makers who are short of money at the time of release.

A film like Janata Garage` Telugu film gets nearly 350 screens in Karnataka, while Kannada films of this land are neglected – Thara feels unhappy for such situation. The newcomers with novel thought and good making getting good reviews from media but they are not remaining in theatres despite of having long run capacity. Thara was referring to Madamakki` that got uniform review from all print and electronic media.

The KFCC should intervene and stop rain of films first. Earlier two to three Kannada films were permitted and now we have five to eight Kannada films releasing and competing. The well made films are not getting right placement says Thara.

Thara also hit back on the celebrity shows taking place. For the celebrity shows hardly a few come to watch and give their opinion. A celebrity show of Goli Soda` invited sixty artists but most of them did not turn up. What is the point in having celebrity shows to get publicity she asks?
