‘Prithvi’ power star Puneeth Rajakumar first of the 13 films in career from ‘Appu’ in 2002 is surrounded by politics. ‘Prithvi’ touches upon the mining politics in Bellary – a clash between Reddy brothers who are ministers in the ruling BJP government and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy who is strong opposing it. The film focus that mining in Bellary is disturbing the life of people especially drinking water and destroying the environment.

The film ‘Prithvi’ just after release gained the political importance. Whether Soorappa Babu and NS Rajakumar are the actual producers or not was discussed as the attack is made directly on the Reddy brothers, the strong mining operators who are the ministers of the Bharatiya Janata Party government.

Is ‘Prithvi’ funded by Reddy brothers arch rival and former CM HD Kumaraswamy, who gained importance when father of HD Kumaraswamy former prime minister HD Deve Gowda watched the film ‘Prithvi’ on Saturday at Renukamba theatre. Former PM Deve Gowda is hitting hard on mining politics in Bellary like how he is attacking Ashok Kheney of NICE infrastructure in Bangalore.

Producer Soorappa Babu and NS Rajakumar quietly enjoying the publicity given to the film ‘Prithvi’ are not ready to accept that the film is funded by former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy who is also producer, distributor and exhibitor of Kannada films.

One thing is sure that the subject of ‘Prithvi’ was kept as a tight secret and media was also not invited to the sets after the Muhuruth at Ulsoor Someshwara Temple and then again at audio release at 37 Crescent the media was invited but no information about the film was divulged.

There is one motive behind doing this that has surfaced after the release of ‘Prithvi’. When the film ‘Mukyamantri I Love You’ (Actress Radhika and former CM HD Kumaraswamy alleged love affair) was launched and shooting was also done by firebrand editor of ‘Hai Bangalore’ Mr Ravi Belegere, the family of HD Kumaraswamy brought stay order for the film.

Sensing that court strictures on ‘Mukyamantri I Love You’ (starring action hero Vijay and Haripriya) the director of ‘Prithvi’ Jacob Verghese and his team kept very tight on the subject that is on the Bellary mining politics. In addition to it the shooting for the actual mining locations was not held in Bellary for the film. It was held in Vishakapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. That again leads to suspicion.
