Debutant director Lenin Bharathi has written the film, which has been produced by Vijay Sethupathi. Even before its release, the film has been screened at the 21st International Film Festival of Kerala and even won the best cinematography award in the Bioscope film festival which was held in Punjab.

The film stars newcomers Antony, Gayathri Krishna and Abu in the lead roles. Ilayaraja has composed the music for the film with editor Kasi Viswanathan making the cuts. Theni Easwar has handled the cinematography for the film.

Yuga Bharathi and Vivek has penned the lyrics for the songs while Jeyachandran has worked as the art director for the project. The film, which has been awarded with a clean U by the censors is bankrolled by Vijay Sethupathi Productions.

'Merku Thodarchi Malai' is slated to hit the screens coming August 24.
