A memorial event for former Chief Minister Kalaigniar Karunanidhi who passed away on the 7th of August was held last evening by the Nadigar Sangam in which Superstar Rajinikanth and M.K. Stalin participated. Rajinikanth became emotional when he remembered his long standing friendship with Kalaigniar and stated that he is unable to imagine a Tamil Nadu without the seasoned politician.

In a brilliant extempore speech Rajini recalled the unparalleled contribution of Karunanidhi for Tamil, Tamil Nadu and Tamil people. He said that Kalaigniar was instrumental in making MGR a star through 'Malai Kallan' and Sivaji Ganesan a superstar through his very first film 'Parasakthi'.

Rajini for the very first time openly criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Pazhaniswamy for not participating in the funeral of Karunanidhi when leaders from all over India did so. He reminded EPS that he is neither MGR nor Jayalalitha to harbor rivalry over the late great leader.  For the full speech of Rajini do watch the video below.
