Buxom Mumtaz is pretty cheesed off these days. She is tired of people calling her item girl.

"Don't brand me a glamour doll. I am an actress who can render good performance on the screen and can do any role with ease", says Mumtaz.

Though she made her debut as a heroine in T Rajendhar’s Monisha En Monalisa, she shot to fame appearing in sizzling item numbers in her subsequent films.

Until now, she was seen appearing in peppy numbers.

But now the actress has now decided to try her best in acting.

She believes her forthcoming ventures Maha Nadigan and Veerasamy in which she plays the heroine opposite Sathyaraj and T Rajendhar respectively will help her shed the image of a glamour doll and move on to better things in films.

But that is easier said than done in an industry which likes to put its heroines in convenient slots.

For many, Mumtaz will continue to remain Malai, Malai or Kattipudi Kattipudida girl.

So she will continue to remain cheesed off.
