With much lot of fanfare went Vallavan to the floors last month. The movie starring Silambarasan in the lead role has Nayantra, Sandhya and Reema Sen opposite him.

Silambarasan himself wields the megaphone while Thenappan produces it.

After a couple of days of shooting at a school in Chennai, the shooting was mysteriously wound up. Immediately reports began to do their rounds that Thenappan had decided to shelve the project since the budget was proving to be a constraint.

Shooting for just a couple of songs had crossed Rs. 50 lakhs, sources said.

But it looks like the talk of shelving the project is a pure and unadulterated loose talk. It is something that some mischief mongers have spread, says the director-actor Simbu.

He says the shooting will commence again on June 15th. "The project has not been shelved. Since I had to concentrate on Totti Jaya, I took some time off. No doubt Vallavan would continue to grow and sizzle the audience", Silambarasan has said.

But he is worried that some vested interests are at work to derail or at least delay the project.
