No doubt the Tamil film industry is driven by superstition and beliefs. Success of a particular kind of films always lets loose a host of similar themes in the following months. The scores of gangster movies in recent times is a pointer to it.

Now interestingly one film marriage has let loose a host of marriages in Tamil film industry now. Never before in the history of the Tamil film industry that so many marriages have happened in just a span of three to four months.

Suriya and Jyothika eventually decided to get married on 11 September.

Close on the heels of their wedding announcement came director Bharathiraja's decision to get his son Manoj K Bharathy married off with actress Nandana, both of whom were going steady for long time. Their marriage is slated for 19 November.

Also veteran actor Vijayakumar announced the marriage of his son actor Arun Kumar. He would tie the nuptial knot to a Madurai - based doctor's daughter on 1 December.

Also actor Prabhu's son, who returned recently from abroad after completing his higher studies, would enter the wedlock. Announcing this, Prabhu said, 'It is an arranged marriage and would be celebrated in a grand manner'.

Meanwhile rumors are spreading thick and fast that director Selvaraghavan and Sonia Agarwal would finally put an end to all gossips about them by entering the wedlock this December.

If all go as per plan, it would be wedding bells in not less than half-a-dozen film personalities houses.

The year 2006 in Kollywood might well go down as the year of weddings.
