Director Karu Palaniappan and Cheran will come together for as movie early next year. After a decent outing in his recent release Sivapathikaram, Palaniappan wanted to come out with an off-beat entertainer. He approached Cheran with a storyline which impressed the actor-director. He immediately decided to go ahead with the project.

Search for a newcomer to act opposite Cheran is on. Also the story revolves around a young boy. Hence the director is on a search for a young boy.

Cheran's Maya Kannadi is nearing its completion. The movie is expected for a release this January. Following its release, Cheran will start to work for the movie.

Karu Palaniappan, the recipient of State Government award for best director a couple of years ago for his Parthiban Kanavu, is hopeful of rendering a movie that dwells on human emotions with Cheran.
