May will be a month for rationalists to rejoice. The movies Periyar and Ambedkar would hit the screens one after another during May. Both Periyar and Ambedkar fought for the downtrodden and championed the cause of Dalits. Their penchant for rationalist ideas is widely known.

Ambedkar features Mammootty in the title role and the movie is being dubbed and released in Tamil. Noted producer Vishwas Sundar has obtained the dubbing rights in Tamil.

Periyar starring Sathyaraj in the role of the rationalist leader will be released on 25 May. Directed by Gnanarajasekaran, the movie features Kushboo and Jyothirmayi in the roles of Maniammai and Nagammai respectively.
