Jaganmohini is a remake of the yesteryear classic Jaganmohini (1978), directed by Vitallacharya, starring Narasimha Raju and Jayamalini in the lead roles. The newer version is being directed by N.K. Viswanathan starring Raja and Namitha. The movie is produced by by H. Murali.

The unit of the new version of 'Jagan Mohini' has completed a part of the shooting schedule in the thick forests of Talakona. The unit including the lead Namitha camped at the dense jungle to capture various shots at the scenic spots of the forest. The civilians of the surrounding villages stormed to see the actor, after the news of their camping reached.

The upcoming schedule for the shooting is to take place at Vizag and then in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands by the end of September. The climactic scenes of the movie are going to be shot in the exquisite islands of Andaman and Nicobar. The film is planned to be completed by December and released in January 2009.

The yesteryear hero of 'Jaganmohini', Narasimha Raju is stars as the father of the new lead Raja. The role of Jayamalini is restated by Namitha, who sizzles in the role of a glamorous heroine. Nila who is widely known as Meera Chopra in Tollywood makes a reversion in to the tamil industry but as a second heroine this time.

The scene in which the nymphet Namitha harvests pearls underwater is claimed as the major high spot by the film makers. The unit says that the actress underwent special coaching for this scene. The puja was held at Tirumalai Nayak Palace, Madurai. Music maestro Ilayaraja visited the shooting spot of 'Jaganmohini', probably for the first time who scores music for this movie.
