Tamil Cinema has been crazy over the term Malai (meaning mountain) for a long time now. A host of movies that are being made in Kollywood currently carry the word 'Malai' either as suffix or prefix to the title.

According to industry men, 'the Tamil film industry is driven by sentiments. It may be recalled that movies like the Rajinikanth starrer 'Annamalai' went on to become a huge blockbuster. Movies carrying 'Malai' in their title seems to click. Even a few songs that have the word Malai have topped the charts.

Director A Venkatesh is all set to direct Sarath Kumar for a movie titled 'Imaya Malai'. Arun Vijay and Prakashraj are part of a movie that has been named 'Malai – Malai'. Pooja of 'J J' fame is cast alongside Arun Vijay in this proposed movie. She was determined to rebuff any offer that might belittle her demeanor in 'Naan Kadavul'. But, Pooja accepted the offer since she had tremendous scope to perform.

Yet another Malai features in the Arjun starrer 'Thiruvannamalai', directed by Perarasu and produced by Kavithaalaya. The film is nearing completion.
