Pongal saw the release of three films – 'Padikkathavan', 'Kadhalna Summa Illai' and 'Villu'. Similarly three films are releasing this Valentine weekend in the form of Viktan television's 'Siva Manasula Sakthi', the Vigneshwaran starrer 'Kudiyarasu' and Sundar C's 'Perumal'.

Directed by Sabbir Hussein (former national kickboxing champion) 'Kudiyarasu' stars Vigneshwaran (formerly known as Vignesh). The film is about an investigative journalist who exposes the corrupt activities of a politician. This film is reportedly based on the infamous Watergate Scandal that involved former American president Richard Nixon.

According to Sabbir Hussain, 'the entire story unfolds within 24 hours. A scribe unearths the corrupt ways of an influential man and fights against all odds to expose him. Kudiyarasu is a tribute to such valorous men'.

Vikatan Television's Siva Manasula Sakthi (SMS) is a romantic entertainer quite appropriate for release on Valentine's Day. Starring Jeeva and newcomer Anuya in lead roles, the film has been directed by newcomer Rajesh. Music by Yuvanshankar Raja is already topping the charts.

Rajesh is confident that the film would succeed in attracting youngsters to theaters because it is a clean entertainer sans glamour.

Sundar C's 'Perumal', directed by Vincent Selvah, is also in the race. Designed as a commercial entertainer, the film seems to have been made to appease the B and C Centre audiences. Featuring Namitha, Meenakshi and Vivek besides Sundar C, the film has the Chief Minister's grandson Arivunidhi rendering a song.
