Malayalam superstar Mammootty is a big name not only in his home town and India, but also overseas. Especially, when compared to other countries, his fans are plentiful in Dubai, as it has a large number of Keralites.

There was a reality show organized in Dubai by Asianet to laud Mammootty's contribution to Malayalam Cinema. And to be more specific this is the first time in the history of Malayalam Television Channels, that a programme is named after a living legend like Mammootty (Mammootty: The Best Actor Award 2009).

The big mess started only after nearly fifteen thousand Malayalee fans tried to enter a venue which could have room for only seven thousand people. Fans tried to gatecrash into the venue, leaving several people injured in a stampede.

The Dubai police had a tough time controlling the mob, as the 70-member security staffs were ineffective to manage the huge crowd. Almost immediately, the Dubai police was called and they ran to safe guard the Malayalam Superstar from his over-excited fans.

What to say? A good plan turned into heartbreak…
