Producer of ‘Kalingathubarani’, Shanmugavel is facing allegations from the cast and crew of the film for “making them strand in a hotel in Dindigul with no cash in hand.”

A complaint has also been filed with the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) and the producer has been asked to give an explanation or face action, sources in the know say.

“When we were shooting in Dindigul, the producer vanished all of a sudden saying that he would bring money from Chennai. He failed to attend our repeated phone calls and the management of the hotel we were staying refused to allow us to leave,” unit sources say.

“At last we managed to vacate the place with the help of some locals,” they say and add: “It is unfair for a producer to do so.” Directed by Aindhukovilan, a debutant, ‘Kalingathubarani’ has Vimal and Manochitra (previously Nandhagi) in lead roles.

The film was in the news earlier after producer Shanmugavel made an allegation that the hero Vimal (of ‘Kalavani’ fame) was refusing to attend the shoot demanding more money as remuneration.
