Yet another Friday is here. And a new set of films too. This week we have two fresh Tamil movies in hand- 'Vaanam' and 'Poova Thalaiya'.

While 'Vaanam' is the first big multistarrer of the modern era, 'Poova Thalaiya' is from the house of Sanjay Ram, a name to reckon with realistic and rustic movies.

As usual, IndiaGlitz presents you here some interesting details of both the flicks.

It was because of 'Vaanam', STR walked out of 'Ko'. Now that the Jiiva-starrer emerging a blockbuster, responsibility is huge on Simbu's shoulder to prove himself in 'Vaanam'.

Directed by Krish, this Tamil remake of Telugu hit 'Vedam' has Bharath, Sonia Agarwal, Anushka, Vega, Prakash Raj and others in pivotal roles, besides Silambarasan. Music is by STR's good friend Yuvan Shankar Raja, whose chemistry with the actor is terrific.

Krish says it is a story that revolves around Pancha Bootham - revolving around the five elements. "Simbu is the sky, Bharath air, Anushka water, Prakash Raj fire and Saranya the earth. ‘Vaanam’ is all about how these five elements come together," he says.

Produced by VTV Productions and Magic Box Pictures, 'Vaanam' is released by Dhayanidhi Alagiri’s Cloud Nine Movies and STR's home banner Kural TV.

'Poova Thalaiya' is the title of a popular yesteryear film, starring Jaishankar in the lead role. Cashing in on the title value, Sanjay Ram is back with a bang. It is however said the title alone is borrowed from the Jaishankar film and the script is totally different.

Starring Krishnakumar, Udhaya, Sherin, Megha Nair and Swetha in lead roles, Sanjay Ram is not just the director of 'Poova Thalaiya', but the producer too.

"It is yet another realistic theme from Sanjay Ram. The script has been narrated in a racy way. Glamour and the making are the other highlights," sources say. Music for 'Poova Thalaiya' is by Peter John.
