His selection to the post of Tamil Film Directors Association’s general secretary has put Ameer on cloud nine. “I am thankful to everyone who had voted for me with belief,” says the ‘Ram’ and ‘Paruthiveeran’ director.

He adds: “Under the guidance of president of the association Bharathiraja, we will take several initiatives for the welfare of the members. We have promised a lot and will work hard to honour all the commitments given.”

Bharathiraja polled 1,003 votes while Ameer garnered 901 votes and were declared president and general secretary respectively in the elections conducted to the Iyakkunar Sangam on Sunday. Results were announced on Monday.

On the professional front, Ameer is currently busy directing ‘Jayam’ Ravi for ‘Aadhi Bhagawan’, which is said to be a full-length commercial movie. “The film is in its final stage of completion and will see the light of the day soon,” according to circles close to the director.
