In a recent press meet on 'Yennamo Yedho', Gautam Karthik expressed his interest of working on a remake of his father's project, a 1995 blockbuster, 'Ullathai Allitha'. Directed by Sundar C, the film starred Karthik and Rambha in the lead, with Goundamani, Senthil and Manivannan in pivotal roles, rolling on a slapstick story line weaved into a thoroughly entertaining screenplay. Gautam was launched in Kollywood by ace director Mani Ratnam's latest release 'Kadal'; his acting forte as expressed in the film has earned him a ticket to three movies of different genres - director Aishwarya Dhanush's 'Vai Raja Vai' with Priya Anand, Saravanan's 'Sippai' with Lakshmi Menon and 'Yennamo Yedho' directed by Thyagarajan, with Rakul Preet Singh and Nikesha Patel playing the female leads.

Speaking at the press meet, on the impending release of Thyagarajan's project, the actor divulged that he is keen on doing the lead role in the remake of 'Ullathai Allitha'. Gautam said "I don't want to come around as an actor restricting himself to a particular genre and be known only for that. I want to explore and establish my forte in all genres, be it romantic, comedy or action. I am glad to have been introduced by a legendary director, which has given me the dream launch that every actor would want. From here on, my career solely depends on how I take it. On this regard, I would like to express my interest in working on a remake of my father's projects like 'Ullathai Allitha' and 'Pista'. I must confess I have not watched all movies of my grandfather, but I have not missed a single one of my father's, and these two are trend setting films, which I would like to remake and present in a new package."
