Anniyan bows out of race

Anniyan touted to be the cosliest film ever made in India is not releasing on April 14th. The reason given by the producer Oscar films is that Chandramukhi and Mumbai Express producers have booked every decent theatres in the State.

So to get good theatres the producer plans to defer the release to May. Yet another reason given is that Shankar feels that they need not take on Rajnikanth and wants to avoid a battle with Kamalhassan since he is soon to direct a film with the legendary actor.

The first film made on big budget in India was Chandralekha starring Ranjan- T R Rajakumari. The next film was Nadodi Mannan of MGR and followed by Ulagam Sutrum Valiban again of MGR.

Even a Rajni-Kamal film has not exceeded Rs 9 crores production cost but Anniyan is touching Rs 30 crores.

Chandramukhi’s total business is only Rs 30 crores. Anniyan has four fight scenes and one was filmed using 200 cameras for 25 days and Vikram was battling Vietnamese fighters.

For a song a huge set was erected in Malaysia airport. The total days of shooting are 190. The total print to be released is 540. 150 prints are to be released in Tamilnadu and 50 prints in Mumbai. While the rest is for overseas.
