Two hits in a row has put Madhavan's career back on right track. Be it the brief role in Rang de Basanti or the heroic role in Thambi, Madhavan has managed to leave an impression among the movie buffs.

Thrilled at the good response for his role in Thambi, Maddy giving due credit to director Seeman says, 'He has put in a lot of homework to implement the idea he had conceived. The story developed in a huge form on a much higher plane than we visualized. It was literally a test of my character (Thondaman Thambi) with Seeman fine-tuning it.'

'When I slipped into the character it was possible to do it without batting the eyelid. Honestly, it was something I could not manage it while dubbing. Seeman's idea sounded fine but I had my doubts of carrying it off'.

Madhavan, introduced by Maniratnam, says, 'Maniratnam made me act in Alaipayuthey and here too Seeman seemed to know exactly how to get the best out of me'.
