‘Anni’ fame Malavika, who played a dreaded LTTE cadre in Cyanide, is happy getting appreciation from all quarters.

This smart actress, who has won appreciation for her roles in TV serials, is a handy performer on the big screen too, especially in character roles.

But with Cyanide she has got a new lease on her career.

‘Hitherto, I was playing only in homely roles. Suddenly when director Ramesh gave me the opportunity to play the LTTE cadre Subha, who was instrumental in the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, I was surprised.'

‘I tried to study about her, but could not get any material. Hence I managed to get myself copies of LTTE leaflets and the way they function. I managed to get that in my mind and tried to portray that on screen.’

But having said, Malavika understands that it was Ramesh who fully backed her.

‘All credit should go to the director for encouraging me,’ she adds.

'Though I do different roles in small screen and films, when I get across such challenging roles, it makes my work interesting’, Malavika who is from the K Balachander school says.

'I love to do such tough roles', she adds.

'This is just the beginning and I feel that I have a long way to go in films'.
