Recreating Afghanistan in Chennai

Director Goutham Vasudevan Menon was all set to go to Afghanistan to shoot major sequences for his forthcoming film Varanam Aayiram in the trouble-torn Afghanistan. Unfortunately due to visa problems, the crew could not make it to the country for now.

But the director has commenced shooting for the movie in Chennai. For the purpose, a huge set resembling the streets of Afghanistan has been erected at Campa Cola Grounds and few scenes were shot.

Goutham is optimistic that all issues would be sorted out soon and visas would be obtained to go Afghanistan.

The film stars Suriya, Kuthu Ramya and Daniel Balaji in prominent roles. Music is by Harrris Jayaraj and cinematography by Rathnavelu.
