Actor Vijay, who celebrated his 35th birthday today, definitely sent across shock signals when he openly announced that he did have an idea of fighting for the people and their welfare. But this, he would do not as a political group now but as what he calls “Makkal Iyakkam”, a movement for the people.

All of the actor’s fan clubs, which had been earlier converted to welfare groups, have now completed the full circle by becoming the People’s Movement. While the actor did not boldly state that he was starting a party, he definitely did not rule out the possibility as he spoke to the press. “I did agree with fans that we would do more good by being a people’s movement. But this does not mean it is a party. I haven’t thought of that for now,” he said, adding that stories about him facing threats for entering politics were completely untrue.

When a scribe asked if his fans were all ready to turn protestors if the situation warranted, Vijay firmly said they would defend the people and fight for them. In fact, he then heroically added that he would also join the people in such a protest.

‘Vettaikkaran’, Vijay revealed, was about 70 percent complete, and he would then go on to do his fiftieth film with Sangili Murugan. “But none of the other details are fixed as yet about the film,” said the actor, who launched two Computer Learning Centres this morning.
