‘Manmadha Rajyam’, a new film directed by ‘Mangai’ Harirajan went on floors Monday. Starring Keerthi Chawla, Tejashree, Akshaya and Mega Nair in lead roles, the film was earlier titled ‘Manmadha Leelai’.

The change in the name was due to the reported denial of permission by veteran K Balachandar, who claims the ownership of the title. Circles close to the ace filmmaker said that he is planning to remake ‘Manmadha Leelai’, which he made decades ago with Kamal Haasan in the lead.

Following this, Harirajan has rechristened his film as ‘Manmadha Rajyam’. ‘It is a romantic thriller. New actors would share the screen space with the heroines,’ circles close to the director said. There is also a buzz that attempts were made to rope in Malavika for a cameo.

However, the actress denied the offer saying that she had to take care of her infant. Following this, Harirajan is trying to hire some other actress, who can equally sizzle like Malavika, it is said.
