Debutant Rajesh Lingam is directing ‘Pugaipadam’ with seven fresh talents in the lead. The director is from the school of Selvaragavan and has roped in Gangai Amaran to score music for ‘Pugaipadam’.

The question that came in our mind after hearing that Gangai Amaran had been roped in for this one is- How did this fresher catch this musician who was away from film music and concentrated only in devotional albums?

“If Illayaraja is not there in my life I’m no there,” said the director. “The first film that my mom saw after I was born was ‘Annakili’. I grew up listening to Illayaraja Sir’s music. My mother is a slave for music and sometimes she has even forgotten to cook listening to Raja Sir’s music. It was my long term dream to work with Illayaraja Sir for my first movie but, sadly it did not happen. So, I wanted to replace the vacuum with a talent from the same family and roped in Gangai Amaran.”

“The music of ‘Pugaipadam’ will make audience to melt down and it’s a way towards bringing back the Illayaraja era kinda music,” adds Rajesh Lingam.

Hmmm... Welcome back Gangai Amaran Sir!
